Using Your HSA or FSA at Avafem
Last updated · October 7, 2026
What's eligible
Since 2020, federal law (the CARES Act) has made menstrual care products, such as tampons, pads, liners, menstrual cups and discs, and period underwear, eligible expenses for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), with no prescription needed.
Some other products, such as certain supplements, may be eligible only with a Letter of Medical Necessity from your own healthcare provider. Many wellness products aren't eligible.
How to spot eligible products
Products in eligible categories show an "HSA/FSA eligible" label. We base this label on IRS rules and information from the brand.
How to pay
Because each brand is the seller, you may be able to pay with your HSA or FSA card if the brand's checkout accepts it. If it doesn't, pay with another card and submit your order receipt to your plan for reimbursement. Receipts come from the brand.
Check with your plan
Your plan administrator makes the final decision on what's covered. This page is general information, not tax or medical advice.
